Presenting is a skill almost all of us can afford to improve upon. Whether you're terrified of the focus being on you or you enjoy speaking in front of a group, practice using these tips to get even better.
1) The message: If you're getting ready to present and feeling anxious, make is a point to over-focus on your material. Think carefully about what you're imparting, not about what people will think about you. The more you can focus on your message and its soundness, the more you'll be able to crowd out anxious thoughts. Don't indulge stress-inducing thoughts; theyre just distracting and unhelpful "noise."

Take a holistic look at your personality. Incorporate feedback you have received from childhood through your last performance review and everything in between. Are there common themes that emerge? Chances are, you have identified your strengths and weaknesses by now, perhaps in preparation to be interviewed or through 360-degree peer analysis. But have you looked meaningfully at the alignment of those attributes with your chosen path? Strive to optimize that fit. Importantly, consider that some strengths are hidden in the form of "flaws."
While we use the term networking often, it's an elusive term that people understand differently. Many wonder how to actually network effectively at events.
The key is to verbalize your interests, needs, or hopes in a way that speaks to people. Once you do, you have a much better chance of getting what you are looking for. Following are some simple strategies that will improve your networking prowess and open up communication.
